My name is Janelle Behm and I am a student at the University of Mary Washington. I am majoring in Communication and Digital Studies and an addition study in Business Administration. I will be graduating in the spring of 2018 in hopes to pursue a career in video production.
Production has always been an interest of mine. I spend hours on end watching videos and movies, primarily vlogs and documentaries as well as filming my own videos. I find the different production aspects and how different individuals edit their videos for anyone to see to be fascinating. Teaching myself these different filming and editing techniques has made this interest grow into a hopeful career path. I have made many promotional videos for smaller events throughout the year for a business so the customers could enjoy through Facebook. Another project of mine took place in the summer of 2017. I was a Serengetee representative where my final project was to display the values of the company and their tagline “Wear the World” to show where we wore our Serengetee clothing on our summer adventures. In addition to those past experiences, I will be interning for the Friends of the Rappahannock as a videographer and webmaster during my final semester at UMW.
A fun fact about me is that I love to dance. I have been dancing since I was three years old and I have been lucky enough to be a dance teacher for four years now for all ages of various genres. Besides teaching dance, I still get to perform. For the 2017-2018 school year, I am the secretary of the Performing Arts Company at UMW. Students (current and former) choreograph pieces which are performed between two shows throughout the semester that anyone can come and enjoy. Along with PAC, I am also on the dance team where we perform at various sports games and other events. Even though I am not going to school for dance, I will always be a student and will find a way to continue doing what has been so important to me for the past eighteen years.
